The Alexander Homes

A bevy of builders emerged to fill a new need for mass-market housing, spurred by the city's growing year-round population and an increasing demand for vacation homes. Chief among them was the George Alexander Construction Company, headed by the father-son team of George and Robert Alexander, successful builder/developers from Los Angeles. They arrived in 1955 with an able track record of single-family subdivisions in LA. and, more importantly, a keen interest in pioneering architecture. The rounded shapes of Kew were often followed in the 19th century.

The date palm is easily recognizable by its upward-growing, arching, feather-like fronds and enormous clusters of red fruits. These date-producing palms have slender trunks with a shaggy appearance, fronds measuring 10 to 16 ft. (3 – 5 m) long, creamy-yellow flowers, and clusters of sweet edible fruits. The Kentia palm makes for a captivating ornamental feature in any garden or for lining a street.

In a neighborhood filled with homogeneous Midcentury Modern residences, Brandon McBurney’s Palm Springs home stands out thanks to its 10-foot-tall lime green doors that face the street. The native California palm palm is identified by its beautiful fan-shaped fronds of waxy gray-green blades. This impressive palm tree has arching leaves 3 to 6 ft. (1 – 1.8 m) long and huge sprays of white tubular flowers up to 15 ft. (5 m) long. Palm house is a term sometimes used for large and high heated display greenhouses that specialise in growing palms and other tropical and subtropical plants. In Victorian Britain, several ornate glass and iron palm houses were built in botanical gardens and parks, using cast iron architecture. Especially in English-speaking countries outside the British Isles, these are often called conservatories, in the UK mainly a term for small glass structures attached to houses.

The flame thrower palm tree is a single-stemmed palm with feather-like pinnate palm leaves, a bright green crown shaft, and clusters of small purple flowers, followed by bright red fruits. The unusual feature of this tropical palm tree is the newly emerged leaf that is red to maroon—hence the name “flame thrower” palm. The streets of Los Angeles—from Beverly Hills to the base of the San Gabriel—are famous for tall, slender palm trees, topped with rounded crowns of feather-like arching fronds. Most Los Angeles palms are Mexican fan palms (Washingtonia robusta) that were introduced by Spanish missionaries. Also called the European fan palm tree, this shrub-like palm grows 6 to 15 ft. (1.8 – 4.5 m) tall.

However, it collapsed the day before its official opening in 1830. This slow-growing, heat-loving palm tree is drought-tolerant and ideally suited to arid climates. The San Jose Hesper palm grows 40 to 60 ft. (12 – 18 m) tall. Its tolerance to drought and hot temperatures make it an ideal palm tree for growing in arid landscapes.

Paramedics took him to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he died. Witnesses told investigators two vehicles were seen fleeing the area of the shooting moments afterward. Investigators say all three men were involved in Daniels' death that afternoon on Bayberry Drive, just west of U.S. 1 near the Lake Park Marina. Crime scene investigators recovered 32 shell casings fired collectively from three 9 mm handguns, an arrest report said.

In addition to fan-shaped leaves growing on spiny petioles, the ornamental palm has short clusters of bright yellow flowers that ripen to brown fruits in the fall. Also called the seashore palm, this beach palm tree grows well in sandy soil and tolerates salty air from the Pacific Ocean. This shrubby palm has leaves that grow from an underground trunk straight out of the ground. Shiny, deep-green lance-shaped curling leaflets cover the long petioles. Despite being a non-native palm in California, the Canary Island date palm is one of the state’s most recognizable palm trees.

Luckily, the second spot was just a few blocks down the street. From the 1940s through the 1970s prolific regional modernists such as William F. Cody, Donald Wexler, and E. The jelly palm or pindo palm is a small, slow-growing palm tree with arching feather-like fronds that curve to the ground. The cold-hardy palm tree is characterized by its dense crown of light green to bluish-green leaves 5 to 10 ft. (1.5 – 3 m) long. The date-producing palm has clusters of small flowers that are reddish-orange, purple, or greenish-yellow, followed by edible orange fruits. The Kentia palm is a slow-growing non-native palm tree that commonly grows in California. The elegant and stately palm tree has arching, feather-like, deep green leaves measuring 12 ft. (3.7 m) long. The huge fronds have finger-like, pointed leaflets drooping from the central petiole, giving the palm a graceful appearance.

Bento Box A Buzzing 2024 Trend in UI UX Design: Learn When and How to Embrace It by Diganta Debnath

bento box design

These compact, compartmentalized containers allowed for a variety of foods to be carried conveniently and elegantly. But in the design world, Bento Box is a design trend that greatly impacts how we design user interfaces. The Bento box design style, observed on websites like Apple, Bolt, and Chronicle, is inspired by the traditional Japanese bento box used for single-portion meals. While browsing through good web designs recently on Twitter or via web design galleries, I noticed a trend of using content blocks in variable size and design to form an interesting bento box style design. Even if you local stores don't carry 'genuine' Japanese bento boxes, it's always possible to find alternatives for lunch boxes, dividers, picks and other accessories. As I wrote in one of the earliest articles on this site, it's not necessary to buy a box that is labeled as a Bento Box in order to bring bento lunches.

Bento User Interface design drift

Adopting bento box designs means you can organize content in a way that is both functional and visually interesting. I’m truly baffled by the price tags on some of the other options out there. Sistema also makes other sturdy, perfectly-sized containers in various shapes and sizes, most of which are also priced in single digits.

Bento box UI might sound complicated, but it’s actually a very easy-to-learn way of structuring your user interfaces to achieve a modern look and improve usability. You’re striving to create something innovative, something that resonates with modern internet users, but you’re stuck in a creative rut. The items listed on eBay, J-List and such are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to bento gear - a lot, lot more is available only in Japan.

This playful, mix-and-match approach reflects the essence of the American bento box – a celebration of individual tastes and preferences, all packed in a convenient, organized and portable form. Enjoy the freedom to create a meal that's not just satisfying but also uniquely yours every time you pack your bento box container. Bento design trends prioritize visually pleasing and user-friendly approaches, especially effective for mobile design.

Similar to how we prefer our tiffin box to present information in a structured and convenient way, the bento box design steps in. It caught everyone’s attention when Apple incorporated it into their ‘iPhone’ landing pages, prompting other websites to follow suit. In this post, I will be talking about how the trend got started, then show some creative examples of applying the bento box content UI in web design. The Bento UI design trend delivers several key benefits for designers, developers, and users.

Explore the art of crafting websites where each section isn’t just distinct but contributes seamlessly to a cohesive whole. Then there’s another camp that thinks Microsoft might have been the trailblazer here. When they unveiled Windows Phone 7 with its Metro design language, it was a game-changer. Imagine opening a bento box, each compartment revealing a delightful surprise. I aim to assist designers like you in understanding and improving design at every UX/UI level. Other than Bento Grids, you may also head on to One Page Love’s Bento tagged web designs and Grid websites in Godly.

Made in Framer: Bento Box Design Style

I like how it can be configured to have the text content on the top or below the image. However some might also argue that the true origin could be coming from Microsoft when they introduced the Metro design language system when they unveiled Windows Phone 7. Be it who was the true inspirer, it definitely sparked many designers around the world to create bento box style design. One of the most famous bento box website designs out there, Apple's store breaks up key content into bitesize chunks.

Web design trend: bento box

Bento UI might sound complicated, but it’s actually a very straightforward way of structuring a design. It’s simple and efficient; consequently, it’s popular with both designers and users. The term Bento Box originates in Japan, where it refers to a meal divided into its constituent parts and packed into a box. But in the design world, Bento Box is a design trend that is having a huge impact on how we design user interfaces. Some say it began with the metro design language used by Windows 8 back in 2012, others give Apple the credit as they use bento UI throughout their video presentations and website. Whichever came first, the appetite for bento box design is going nowhere.

Unfortunately, most of the online stores that sell them are in Japanese only, and do not ship overseas. High-end Sawtelle sushi destination Tsujita has relatively affordable jewelry box chirashi boxes topped with uni, ikura, and fresh fish for around $45 each. Chef Shinichi Miyagi worked his way through some of Southern California’s top sushi restaurants before opening this well-placed Brentwood restaurant offering a variety of sushi meals to-go. The $120 bento is the way to go for those willing to splurge (minimum two order, with two days advance notice), but the meal comes with oysters, grilled lobster, blue crab hand rolls, and monkfish liver. Pack perfectly portioned lunches with these Japanese-style containers. What’s more, core technologies on the web have evolved to make Bento UI easier to produce.

Despite the ambiguity surrounding its origins, the increasing popularity of Bento UI acts as a validation for its emergence as a dynamic and evolving design style. The shift from a mere food container to a design style is quite fascinating. While many credit Apple as a pioneer in this realm, the origins of the Bento box design style can be traced back to an earlier player — Microsoft’s Nokia Lumia device, which debuted in 2013. It's a curated collection showcasing the best bento grid layouts on the web.

PackIt's reusable bento box collection offers a combination of style, functionality and sustainability. They're not only eco-friendly, reducing the need for single-use containers, but also incredibly easy to clean, often just a top-rack dishwasher cycle away from being ready for their next use. The versatility extends beyond food; use them to organize craft supplies, jewelry and more. With fewer containers required, they help minimize clutter in your kitchen cupboards. Enjoy these benefits when you embrace a cleaner, greener and more organized lifestyle today with PackIt's reusable bento boxes, and take a step towards a more sustainable future—one meal at a time. Deciding between a disposable or reusable bento box isn't just about convenience; it also involves considering how each type of bento box fits into your lifestyle and impacts the environment.

From special offers to latest news, the user can find the information that's relevant to them quickly and easily. Bento box web design ultimately takes inspiration from the food world, using small, rectangular layouts to highlight key pieces of information. Generous rounded corners are also a requirement for emulating the bento box look. The simplicity of the design means it can work brilliantly on mobile devices, and is a good strategy for breaking up stats and numbers or otherwise dense information.

Residential Treatment and Recovery Services in Los Angeles

Lloyd Wright, son of the master, designed downtown's 1923 Oasis Hotel, a slip-form concrete monument to early California Modernism. “I’ve always been a fan of Shag’s art,” says McBurney, an e-commerce executive for supermarket chain Kroger who has been coming to Palm Springs for more than 20 years. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he lives in the desert full-time and hopes to open his home for fundraising and charity events. While the hotel opened in the 1920s, after the Great Depression and WWII, it had been decades since El Mirador was used as a hotel (it had even been converted to a military hospital). Since the property was considered "army surplus," its investors had a $5 million budget and Williams's 1953 design instantly became a local landmark.

Due to its versatility, the dwarf sugar palm tree has many uses in a southwestern garden landscape. For example, you can use the fern-like palm plant as a specimen plant, hedge plant, evergreen privacy screen, or in a container garden. As one of the most versatile palm trees, the Mediterranean palm tolerates extreme heat, cold, and drought and thrives in full sun in USDA zones 9 to 11. The Canary Island date palm is also an ideal container palm tree to grow in compact southern gardens. Despite its popularity in California, the Mexican fan palm is non-native and is considered invasive in some areas. Southern California's alluring desert and an enticing village called Palm Springs captivated an impressive list of talented architects by the 1920s.

Investigators found Lee Daniels, 21, dead outside a house off U.S. 1 in Lake Park on Feb. 1.

The high desert may have gone upscale, but don’t worry — it’s still funky. This year’s event, which takes place Feb. 16-23, includes more than 300 events and branches out to include nearby Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Cathedral City and the popular tourist destination Joshua Tree. Here’s where to go, stay and eat when planning a weekend trip to this desert escape. Like Palm Springs itself, the house has a casual vacation vibe. “I didn’t want to take the house too seriously,” Agle says as he walks by an Operation game-inspired artwork depicting a Hennessy Heart, Bacardi Brain and Ketel One Kidney. In rapid tempo, Hollywood's ingénues and elite followed suit, discovered that Palm Springs was the perfect playground to frolic discreetly. Tennis, golf, plush resorts, and swimming pools in every imaginable shape soon surrounded a stylish downtown promenade of tasteful shops, bustling eateries, and swanky cocktail lounges. There are many species here studied by Kew scientists for research into medicines.

With its distinctly exotic look, the beautiful date palm tree thrives in coastal regions in USDA zones 9 to 11. Date palms grow 50 to 80 ft. (15 – 24 m) tall with a huge crown 20 to 40 ft. (6 – 12 m) wide. The Palm House is a large palm house in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in London, that specialises in growing palms and other tropical and subtropical plants. Many of its plants are endangered or extinct in the wild.

Gambino said the Glassell Park area where the home is located is popular among artists, musicians and actors. "This is definitely the exact kind of house where you would dream," Gambino said in an interview with USA TODAY. "It's a very special house where people immediately get, you know, emotionally connected when they're there."

They and other modernists created an architectural treasury of great consequence and innovation in and around Palm Springs. For all that, the city more or less remained a sleepy seasonal village for affluent snowbirds through the 1940s. The multi-level Palm Los Angeles is housed in a historic toy factory in downtown’s South Park. This location offers a sophisticated dining experience steps away iconic landmarks, such as Crypto.com Arena and L.A.

We happened to find this location by surprise when we stopped by to take some photos of the famous Beverly Hills sign. The sign is located at Beverly Gardens Park, which is typically a busy tourist destination (you’ll see tour buses here). There are a handful of parking spots here, but they are usually full, so your best bet is to find street parking. After snapping a few photos, we weren’t sure if this was THE spot we were looking for. It just didn’t have that perfect shot of the classic lined trees, so we decided to try another location.

The Church will lease part of its sprawling parking lot to Related Cos. Of New York in the deal, with the proceeds going to build a new school. I’m real estate reporter Kimberly Miller with the latest developments in the sizzling market. The number of veterans who are without permanent housing was down this year compared to past counts, officials said. Among the steps the region has taken to help veterans who are homeless in recent years is a 60-bed site at the VA Medical Center in Riviera Beach.

We like that they are open early (7 AM) since it’s hard to find a coffee shop in this area that is open before 8 AM. If you are visiting Beverly Hills and aren’t able to take photos in the morning, the third location on our list is a fantastic spot to take pictures. We visited this location on a Sunday afternoon and saw a handful of others taking photos here as well. Not quite the answer we were looking for since we didn’t have the luxury of time to drive around Beverly Hills all day. What we needed were the exact cross streets to type into our GPS. Then, a tail-finned postwar America began gathering under the invigorating desert sun.

Another identifying feature of the king palm is its smooth lime-green crown shaft. Additionally, the tall California fan palm has a moderate growth rate, averaging about 1.5 ft. (0.5 m) per year. However, the native palm typically grows slower in residential landscapes, making it an ideal landscaping palm tree for medium to large-sized gardens.

An unusual feature of the beach palm is the flowers that look like yellow corn-cobs on a long stick. The multi-branching palm grows more as a shrub than a palm tree. It’s a drought-tolerant, heat-loving shrub-like palm that grows in inland Southern California landscapes, coastal regions, and beach gardens. The small jelly palm tree grows 12 to 15 ft. (3.6 – 4.5 m) tall. In smaller species, the tips of the arching leaves almost touch the ground, covering the pineapple-like stem.

The Bismarck palm is one of the most stunning ornamental palm trees for a California garden landscape. This short palm is identified by its huge fan-shaped fronds, bluish-green or steely-blue color, and single stout trunk. This easy-to-care-for decorative tree adds bold color and texture to any landscape in warm climates. The Mexican fan palm grows up to 40 to 80 ft. (12 – 24 m) tall with a small rounded crown 8 to 10 ft. (2.4 – 3 m) wide. Like the native California fan palm, dead fronds on the Mexican palm form a dense skirt at the top of the trunk.

Being that this street is in a residential area, we tried our best to take pictures quickly and quietly so that we wouldn’t disturb anyone. We love how the sunrise was giving these palm trees a gorgeous golden glow. Have you seen those beautiful palm tree-lined streets in Los Angeles and ever wondered where the heck people took those photos?

The plantings simulate this multi-layered habitat, with canopy palms and other trees, climbers and epiphytes down to the shorter understorey plants and dwarf palms. No one had ever built a glasshouse on this scale before and to do so the architects borrowed techniques from the ship building industry which may explain why the Palm House looks like the upturned hull of a ship. Today the Palm House is one of Kew’s most recognisable buildings having gained iconic status as the world’s most important surviving Victorian glass and iron structure. What if you ordered a vegan tofu wrap with extra bean sprouts and instead got a T-bone steak, with a side of green beans with bacon bits? That's about what West Palm Beach might get after a panel approved Related Cos.

Working out during vacation may not be for everyone, but for those cruisers who pride themselves on their fitness, there is a completely refreshed fitness center onboard to enjoy. Of course, it wouldn't be a tropical getaway without some live poolside music, which guests can enjoy while lounging on the lido deck. Dueling pianos is such a fun and interactive form of live music entertainment. Currently, Margaritaville at Sea also conducts karaoke sessions with the ship’s activity team here. Setting sail in spring 2022, the Margaritaville Paradise will feature 10 passenger decks and 659 cabins with various stateroom categories. The ship’s casual-luxe cabins and common spaces will allow guests to drift away to paradise with subtle nautical details and colors influenced by the surrounding seas, sands, and skies.

How much does it cost to go on Margaritaville at Sea Paradise?

For those who love to dance, Margaritaville at Sea has added a brand new venue at the very top of the ship for adult guests. The newest adult-only venue is called the Hemisphere Nightclub and can be found on Deck 14. While the standard piano bar wasn't a new addition, the refurbishment of Margaritaville at Sea's Paradise brought the brand-new venue called "Keys On The Water Dueling Piano Bar," which can be found on Deck 9.

Guide to Margaritaville At Sea

After sailing onboard the Paradise the first time, I was intrigued to see how Margaritaville At Sea had improved since 2022. It was our honor to be hosted onboard by Margaritaville at Sea, and while we were invited onboard, all of these opinions are genuinely my own. On my first cruise, I was only able to dine at the buffet for breakfast, so I was curious to see what the Port of Indecision Buffet offered for dinner. Something I noticed had improved onboard this sailing was the addition of more onboard activities. This quick cruise is unique in the cruise line industry, as it's rare to find a 2-night sailing on any cruise line.

Night Key West & Cozumel

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line's flagship ship, the Grand Classica, will also serve as the new cruise brand's first ship. Margaritaville at Sea is currently giving a cruise ship they recently purchased a huge makeover. This includes a complete remodel of all 1,105 cabins on Margaritaville at Sea Islander. Meet the swimming pigs of The Bahamas, spend the day swimming with dolphins, or work on your tan as you sip a tropical cocktail. Includes your choice of Margaritaville at Sea souvenir cup plus unlimited refills of fountain sodas for the duration of your cruise.

Set your morning to a sparkling start with a fresh, luxurious breakfast from JWB Prime Steakhouse for the ultimate beginning to a fantastic day in paradise. Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, weekend getaways, and every special occasion. Additionally, guests can enjoy a complimentary burger bar at the Cheeseburger In Paradise Burger Bar on Deck 10. This is a great option for an afternoon snack or lunch while on your cruise. The refreshed nightclub features a brand-new cocktail menu, as well as bottle service and live DJ.

Island Time

One of my favorite features of the Oceanview Stateroom was the awesome porthole window, which was a lovely place to watch the sunrise from my cabin. I enjoyed the seating area near the window, too, as it made the stateroom feel quite spacious. Margaritaville at Sea unveiled an array of entertainment offerings onboard its newest ship, the Islander, embarking on its maiden voyage from Port Tampa Bay in June, according to a company statement.

Cruise.Blog had the opportunity to see exactly what changes and improvements had been made to Margaritaville at Sea’s Paradise since its original debut in 2022. For my sailing, I was gifted a Wi-Fi Package, package for 10 drinks, and onboard credit, which I used to eat at the specialty restaurant onboard, JWB Prime Steakhouse. With visual accents that inspire adventure, the ship’s inviting atmosphere will be filled with music, lights, island-inspired sculptures, artwork, scents of the tropics, and more. Lovers of non-stop entertainment will enjoy the Par-A-Dice Casino, Stars on the Water Theater, and various nightclubs while wellness-enthusiasts can stop by the St. Somewhere Spa or Fins Up! With pools, a retail store, and so much more, there is something for everyone. The first ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, will be based out of the Port of Palm Beach with two-night/three-day cruises to Grand Bahama Island.

Margaritaville partnered with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line — which rebranded to Margaritaville at Sea — for the new cruise brand, according to a press release. Oneil Khosa, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line CEO's, will remain as Margaritaville at Sea's CEO. Your stateroom aboard Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is your private retreat – every room is designed with a laid-back luxury vibe.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food and dining options onboard Margaritaville at Sea’s Paradise my second time onboard. The Main Dining Room featured a new menu with island-inspired signature dishes, a new selection of cocktails and wines, and scratch-made desserts. (Many passengers here receive a meal here in the popular License to Chill package that comes with 10 drinks, an onboard wine tasting and other perks).

Just as when Margaritaville at Sea first made its debut, Paradise still sails its original 2-night itinerary from the Port of West Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island and back. Margaritaville at Sea Islander's 1,105 cabins offer a range of four categories -- interior, oceanview, balcony and suite -- and 11 subcategories, including four types of balcony staterooms and three types of suites. Cabins range in size from 175 square feet for the insides to the 365-square-foot top-of-the-line Signature Grand Suite.

Once you're in the Bahamas, shore excursions are extra and you will have to pay to take transportation from the terminal in Freeport to any attractions, as there is nothing within walking distance. Which is good, because only 10 rooms on the entire ship come with a balcony. Even junior suites only have portholes; you have to book a Grand Terrace Suite if you want outdoor real estate. Another area where the ship seems dated is in its utilities; the renovation did not add the number of American outlets and USB ports that always-wired travelers want these days. With 12 specialty and included dining options, sampling your way around the Margaritaville at Sea Islander is a delicious escape from the ordinary.

Lovers of non-stop entertainment can enjoy the Margaritaville Casino, Stars on the Water Theater, and various nightclubs while wellness-enthusiasts can stop by the St. Somewhere Spa & Salon or Fins Up! With pools, a retail store, and so much more, there’s something for everyone. In addition to the Tiki Bar, other new bars and lounges include the central lounge in the Flip Flop Atrium serving signature cocktails. Ocean-inspired cocktails will be on the menu in the aquarium-themed Coral Reef Lounge and hand-crafted drinks will be served in the intimate Hemisphere Dancer Craft Spirits Bar. The Margaritaville at Sea Islander is the newest and flagship resort at sea perfectly designed to transport cruisers on fun-soaked escapes to an island state of mind. Sailing Summer 2024 from Port Tampa Bay to Key West and Mexico on 4- and 5-night cruise itineraries.

I highly recommend either planning out your day ahead of time or booking an excursion once onboard. Margaritaville at Sea’s Paradise ship docks in an area of the island that is not close to many attractions or beaches. For this reason, guests will need some form of transportation to best explore the island once they arrive. Powered by Echelon Fitness, the new fitness center features some of the most advanced fitness experiences, including a Reflect Touch Fitness Mirror for yoga. Those staying in suites will be able to enjoy connected mirrors from the comfort of their stateroom. For my recent sailing in March 2024, I was honored to be hosted onboard with Margaritaville at Sea.

This was a great addition and kept this large venue filled with guests enjoying their evening. The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is your off-shore resort experience, sailing from the Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island. On this floating island vacation, you can unwind, enjoy the endless activities and entertainment, or just relax and soak up the sun.

carnival cruise ship jubilee

We expect to hear about the operator’s successful return to service and would be surprised if the call didn’t include a Carnival Jubilee update. On July 26, 2023, just a couple days after Carnival Jubilee floated out from the dock, work began on adding Carnival’s iconic funnel. In the press photos from Carnival, cranes can be seen lowering the funnel, piece by piece, in place on the ship. As a result, the inaugural transatlantic sailing, along with five additional Caribbean sailings from Galveston, were all canceled. The shipbuilder provided a new delivery date of early December 2023.

An Elegant Evening on Carnival Jubilee

Carnival Jubilee features 811 standard interior cabins which are 158 square feet each. Interior means that they’re located in the interior of the ship and don’t feature any windows. They include two twin beds that can convert to a king, with some able to sleep up to four guests. The main ship sundeck is located on Deck 17, and it gets busy early, especially on sea days. A great alternative for adults is the Serenity area, open only to 18 and older.

Group exercise classes, from cycling to yoga, are offered throughout the cruise for a fee. If taking a class is a must for you, sign up early, as they do tend to fill up. Tides Pool on Deck 16 aft is near the action at Shaq’s Big Chicken; two hot tubs are also located here. Located aft on Deck 8, it’s an infinity pool with a little wading area, so you just want to sit in the water without fully immersing, you can. Two hot tubs are nearby, on the starboard side, just around the corner.

THAT OUGHT TO BE ENOUGH FUN FOR ANYONE!

The ship has a Japanese specialty restaurant (named Bonsai Teppanyaki) located within the Bonsai Sushi restaurant (on Promenade-Havana Deck). The restaurant offers authentic Far East dishes and a live cooking show performance (by the chefs) at custom-built cooking stations positioned at the center of an 8-seat dining table. Each meal at Bonsai Teppanyaki starts with a sampling of 5 appetizers (Miso Soup, Pork Belly Yakitori, Spicy Tuna on Rocks).

There are several hotels located on the island which are all a short drive from the cruise terminal. With comedy shows, Playlist Productions, and various other Fun Squad activities, there is never a dull moment on Carnival Jubilee. Relive our experiences in this day-by-day Carnival Jubilee review.

Location of Guy's Burger Joint

In addition to six zones that include everything from a digital octopus to a roller coaster, the vessel offers fantastic food and great service, but you can make your experience even better with a few insider tips. Passengers link credit cards to their onboard accounts or put up a set amount of cash to charge against, using their keycards as a means of making purchases. The only time you might want to have some bills handy is for tipping your room steward, bartenders, room service delivery people, luggage porters or shore excursion guides. Through at least April 2026, Carnival Jubilee offers two seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries out of its Galveston home port on a regular rotation. Both types of sailings begin and end in Galveston and visit Mahogany Bay in Roatan and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico with three sea days mixed in.

In my balcony room, I had three standard outlets and four USB lightning ports by the vanity. There was also a USB port (non-lightning) on either side of the bed, just below the reading lamp. A few other forms of identification, such as a passport card, also are acceptable. Camp Ocean also has an interactive space wall, where astronauts lead kids on virtual expeditions, complete with a ceiling that lights up like the night sky to show the constellations. Cabanas are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. Prices vary by sailing, but on my voyage, they were $500 per day from 8 a.m.

Rudi’s Seagrill

Sea Day Brunch is a complimentary offering on Carnival ships that takes place in the main dining room and features some great menu options. Currents (think replacement for The Gateway on Celebration) uses technology to create an “underwater” experience for guests. This zone features two new bars, Dr. Inks Ph.D and The Golden Mermaid, both with specialty cocktail menus that you won’t want to miss. While The Shores (think replacement for 820 Biscayne on Celebration) invokes seaside boardwalk vibes and features a grand 3-story art installation. Carnival Jubilee is a family ship, and as such, kids are found nearly everywhere, though kids clubs are located on decks 4 and 17.

Carnival Jubilee’s fitness center is located forward on Deck 6, just across from the Cloud 9 Spa. The gym offers Life Fitness equipment, including cardio machines, free weights and weight machines. It also has a cycling studio for classes as well as a stretch room, also available for classes and seminars. The ship’s SkyCourse ropes course is also a blast for all ages – just maybe not for people who have a fear of heights. There’s no additional cost for the course, which includes a feature that sends climbers (harnessed safely in) over the edge of the ship. Without a doubt, Carnival delivers fun with its shows and productions.

We also attended brief demonstrations on Mexican chocolate and tequila where we got to sample some of the products. San Gervasio is a small but important site, where Mayans would make offerings to the goddess Ix Chel. Here, we spent about an hour touring some of the prominent structures including the Small House, Structure 25 B, and The Arch.

All “Excel” suites include access to the exclusive Loft 19 sundeck located on deck 19 forward. This space has its own infinity-style whirlpool, bar service, and cushy lounge chairs. Cabanas are available for rent too, which include concierge service, lunch delivery, fresh fruit, and chilled towels. There are several types of balcony cabins to choose from on Carnival Jubilee. A junior balcony is 216 square feet counting the balcony and can sleep up to four guests. There are 19 junior balcony cabins on Carnival Jubilee, and they’re located on decks 9-16.

Besides the top three vote-getters, other new ships were included in the Best New Cruise Ship category, including a few constructed by the industry’s top luxury lines. The Cruise Hive Awards opened on October 1 and closed on Friday, December 22, with all valid votes tabulated to select the winners in each of the eight award categories. The awards have been an annual feature since 2014, and offer cruise fan insights into different cruise lines and experiences. Carnival Jubilee, the latest addition to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, was voted Best New Cruise Ship of 2023 in the annual Cruise Hive Awards. The 183,521-gross ton ship received far more votes than her nearest competitor, indicating her commanding presence in the cruise ship market. But if you are looking for lunch-type options, there is steak and eggs, fried chicken, burgers, and more.

Located on Deck 18, the area is large, offering sunbeds, padded lounge chairs and clamshells in shade and sun. It also has a book and two hot tubs, and contains Fresh Creations, a made-to-order salad station, as well as a bar. Carnival Jubilee has five pools onboard, the biggest of which is located on the lido deck, Deck 16. This is where the bulk of activities take place, and it’s often busy, especially on sea days. Jubilee’s daily schedule is crammed with options, even on sea days (when some cruise lines typically pull back on offerings). Multiple trivia sessions are offered daily, games and contests (hula hoop contests and scavenger hunts, for example) take place throughout the day and dance classes are well-attended.

Long before cruise ships became the giant floating cities they are today, Carnival Cruise Line introduced us to the Holiday class of ships that had a passenger capacity of just under 1,500. While the most well-known ship in the class is the namesake, MS Holiday, the second ship in the fleet was the MS Jubilee. She was built by Kockums Varv in Malmö, Sweden along with her near-identical sister MS Celebration (the 3rd and final ship in the Holiday class). Guests staying in one of the 98 Havana Cabana rooms get a variety of private perks, including a small pool, a sundeck, patios and outdoor bar.

Each meal ends with the specialty desserts "Chocolate Bento Box" and "Green Tea Ice Cream". The restaurant is open for lunch (seadays only) and for dinner (every night of the voyage). The cover charge/price is per person and covers the entire meal. You'll find it's an affordable Caribbean vacation that speaks to just about any traveler who enjoys a large-cruise-ship experience.

Spice H20 is an adults-only beach club inspired by the hotspots of famous beach destinations like Ibiza. At night, the pool floor rises to feature a dance floor with giant screen projecting hypnotic visuals. You can also put on your dancing shoes and head to Bliss Ultra Lounge to party the night away listening to high-voltage tunes.

Norwegian Epic Deck Plans

The biggest change for the NCL Epic in 2024 is the cancellation of the Pricilla Queen of The Desert theater show. Norwegian has decided to remove all Broadway-style shows in favor of their own in-house production shows. On a recent backstage tour, speaking with the director of entertainment, they said that the shows cost millions to license and it just doesn’t make financial sense anymore for Norwegian to pay those fees.

Norwegian Epic Itineraries

These staterooms have a full size bed for one guest and a window view to the corridor. The 4200-passenger ship Norwegian Epic is the latest cruise ship owned by Norwegian Cruise Line before the launch of Norwegian Breakaway (2013). She sails the most in the Caribbean and Europe offering new experience and entertainment proposed by the Blue Man Group at sea. Norwegian Epic offers new things like the Studios, planned for people traveling solo, and the private Haven. There are also a lot of options for dining such as traditional fine dining, endless buffets plus gourmet French, Japanese Teppanyaki, a traditional steakhouse and more.

Norwegian Epic Onboard Activities

Relax with a hot-stone massage, one of over 50 specialty treatments offered. At our onboard spas, treatments range from the classic to the luxurious. Let our pampering professionals soothe and rejuvenate you with facials, massages, acupuncture and a full menu of services. With so many bars and lounges to discover, finding your favorite may take a few days. Feel the energy of the pumping music and pulsing walls as you dance till the wee hours at Bliss Ultra Lounge.

They include a two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed, a sitting area and additional bedding to accommodate one more. These staterooms feature curved walls, a unique bathroom treatment where every area is separate, including the shower and a modern vanity sink. Norwegian Epic Aft-Facing Balcony Staterooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to a private balcony. The Spa Suites, built for two, are a great way to experience a total spa vacation.

Among those are the musical “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” and the Broadway-style dance show “Burn the Floor”. NCL Epic's SplashGolf was designed by Adventure Golf Services (a company specializing in the design and construction of mini-golf courses). The facility was installed in October 2015, during the ship's drydock refurbishment in Brest France. Instead of traditional solid mini-golf balls, SplalshGolf's balls are larger-sized and floating. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry. Since the start, it's been our aim to provide the latest cruise news covering all the major cruise lines.

Vacation Deals

As such, in 2015, Norwegian Cruise Line announced plans for a two-year, $400 million, fleet-wide refurbishment program, and Norwegian Epic was a part of this program, which was dubbed The Norwegian Edge. For a decade-old ship, Norwegian Epic isn’t shabby, but it was even more glamorous than it is now when it launched in 2010. Norwegian Epic was planned as the flagship of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Epic class. Two ships for the class were ordered in November 2006 (including Norwegian Epic), with the option for a third vessel from the same shipyard, STX Europe Chantiers de l’Atlantique. As the very first Norwegian ship to debut The Haven in 2010, Norwegian Epic is once again making waves in redefining this luxurious enclave.

Among the technical entertainments and upgrades are the 2 new rudders (by Becker), new propeller caps, hull repainting (robot UHP blasting technology, new type silicone paint improving fuel efficiency). A new club lounge was opened under the name “The Cavern Club”. The venue is via a partnership with the original British club’s owners. It offers music inspired by "The Beatles" (live performances by international musicians).

Starlink provides fast Internet service at sea and is now available on Norwegian Epic. Using advanced low earth orbit satellites, SpaceX’s Starlink delivers industry leading broadband internet connectivity, which will improve the capacity, speed, and reliability of Internet on board.

The highest grades NCL Epic accommodations are The Haven suites. Guest in those suites can enjoy exclusive access to the ship’s Courtyard (relaxation complex) with its own swimming pool and whirlpool, sundeck (sunbathing area) and a private fitness center. Norwegian Epic was the first ship to include The Haven when it was built, and it's now more luxurious than ever.

Epic is NCL's unique "F3 Project" liner and has no sisterships. The vessel is exactly 32% smaller by GT in comparison to Royal Caribbean's (and world's) largest Oasis-Class ships. The boat has 19 decks, of which 15 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins. Complimentary dining includes dining in the two manning dining rooms, Manhattan Room and Taste. While the latter is open for three meals a day, the former is only open for dinner and has a more posh vibe. Neither works on fixed seatings, so you can dine whenever you please while the two are open.
